Study Room of Bound Newspapers
The Study Room of Bound Newspapers is intended for the study of (especially large-format) newspapers and newspapers in the digitised and microfilm form.
Additionally, it is the centre of the interlibrary service, where readers can pick up and return documents ordered from other libraries, and study those documents if they cannot be loaned outside the library.
The Study Room of Bound Newspapers is located on the 2nd floor of the new building of the Research Library (Bezručova 3).
Microfilming and digitisation protect newspapers against further wear and tear. The physical originals of such volumes are never lent out.
Microfilms can be read by means of high-quality reading devices. Microfilm newspapers are marked Mf in the location number column in the electronic catalogue of the Research Library.
In the Study Room of Bound Newspapers, you will find digitised newspapers in two computers under the link Digital Library of Newspapers – http://www.digitalniknihovna.cz/vkol (Czech only).
In the electronic catalogue, they are marked “digitised document” or “digitised copy”.
All newspapers may be found and ordered in the library catalogue: http://aleph.vkol.cz.
You may make copies of the original newspaper volumes – provided the staff member in charge gives their consent, and only for your own use – with digital cameras. An A3 printer can also be used to print digitised newspapers.
Copies of the original volumes and microfilms can be made on the basis of a written order.
For further options, ask the staff member in charge. The prices of copies are governed by the valid price list.
Loans of newspapers and the operation of the study room are detailed in Articles 21-25 of the Library Regulations.
